Description:
Small warbler with shortish bill, rounded crown and rather short, square tail. Often shows faint whitish edges and tip to tail and fringe to tertials. Supercilium usually reasonably distinct. Typically shorter- and finer-billed than Sykes's, with more prominent supercilium. Has pale base to lower mandible and pale legs.
Distribution:
Rare passage migrant through the central parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, absent in Ghizer, Astore and Baltistan. Usually occupies steppe with low scrub, frequently forages in taller vegetation and deciduous grass jungle, often near water.
Behavior:
Forages mainly in low scrub; seen to feed also, and often for long periods, on the ground, where it hops and runs quickly. Twitches tail upwards or to side, rarely downwards, while foraging and moving about. Mainly feeds on insects and other invertebrates; caterpillars taken in summer.
